MIM 2016 lab on Windows 7

Rebecca Croft's excellent walkthrough on setting up a FIM 2010 R2 lab on Windows 7 is still helpful for installing MIM 2016 on Windows 7.  Here are a few notes/differences from my experience.

• You'll need to use SharePoint Foundation 2010 instead of Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0.
• Follow this blog post on Installing SharePoint 2010 on Windows 7 (64 bit).
• I had to wrestle with SQL Server, since I had 2008 R2 installed, and I ran into an obscure Sharepoint installation error that seemed to be related.  According to a forum post, "I tried the approach of uninstalling SQL Server 2008 R2 and installing SQL Server 2008. That did it for me."  I'm not entirely convinced that that was the solution, but eventually I did get it to work after I uninstalled SQL Server 2008 R2.  And then installing SQL Server 2012 was another adventure!  But I did that before installing MIM 2016, and all's well.

CShark is now IDMware

Heads up; I've renamed my blog from 'CShark' to 'IDMware'.  Seems more appropriate, considering the amount of code I've written for identity projects over the years.  And I hope to publish more of that code to the community.  Depends on my work schedule, of course.  :)
